When I moved to a new city and was looking for a new massage therapist - I didn't pull out the phone book. In fact - in my office I don't even have a phone.

I did search online and book with the first massage therapist that I saw offered the services I wanted and allowed me to book online from the comfort of my desk.

Yes, times are changing!

I agree.
I have no doubt that the best way to grow a practice is thru word of mouth. I wonder if the online stuff we do is almost like having a business card or a listed number... it just has to be done to look like we are for real. Otherwise people really come to me because they have met me, hear of me from some one they know well... or they have known of me in their community for YEars.
and then they call me.
this massage stuff is so weird. it's so intimate.
and because of that I think word of mouth will always be the most powerful of a massage therapist's marketing modes.
