My name is Candice, and I’m a Registered Massage Therapist. I’m quite new to the profession, having started work in the summer of 2006. You’ll find a number of posts about my time in massage therapy school in my blog’s archives.
A bit about me: I grew up in Nova Scotia, but I’ve been settled in Ontario for ten years now. I originally came here to go to university at Carleton in Ottawa, where I earned a BSc (Hons) in Biology and Geography. After working a few years, I decided to go back to school for massage therapy in 2003, the same year that I met my husband. We were married on July 8, 2006, and currently live together in Toronto with our two cats.
When I’m not working, I like to spend an hour or two at the gym or attend an Ashtanga class at my local yoga studio. I also enjoy running and cycling and am thinking about marathon training in the near future. I also love to cook and bake and freely admit I am a foodie at heart.
Answers to some questions specific to this blog:
Is this blog just about Massage Therapy?
I think I wrote one non-massage entry back when I was living in Ottawa. So yes, this blog really is just about Massage Therapy and health care. I have other places that I write about other things.
Do you write about specific client cases? What about client privacy?
When I was in massage school, I used to write about specific client cases. I never gave client names or any identifying details, instead only writing about general things relating to their case. Now that I am in professional practice, I do not discuss specific client cases at all.
I’m about to write the OSCE/MCQ/Board Exams. Can you tell me about them?
Graduates are not supposed to discuss specifics of the CMTO exams, in order to maintain their integrity. I did write a post with a few tips shortly after I did mine: you can find it here.
This isn’t massage related, but I have to ask: Why is this website nyxie.org?
Old webnames die hard. I considered purchasing a more professional domain name, but I’ve had nyxie.org for years, so I just kept my content here.
